Damaged Hair Treatments

The use of chemicals, such as hair spray and dyes as well as overuse of curling irons and hairdryers, can cause damage to your hair. When you notice that your hair is dry or it has spit ends, then you do need to take some action and find treatments for damaged hair. Natural elements, such as the sun and cold weather and hard water, are also factors involved in damaging your hair follicles.

Changing shampoo can cause damage, so it is best to keep using the same shampoo. If you do have dry hair, use a conditioner after you rinse off the shampoo. This will also help keep your hair moist if you do have hard water. In summer or if you spend a lot of time outdoors, try to use a conditioner that contains a sunblock to prevent the ultraviolet rays of the sun from wreaking havoc on your hair.

When you choose hair products, look for ones that suit your hair type. For example, if you have to wash your hair every day, choose a shampoo designed for oily hair. Since washing your hair too much will cause damage, choosing the right products mean that you don’t have to wash and style your hair every day. Experts recommend that you wash your hair every two days instead of every day.

Trimming the ends of your hair every two weeks will keep it healthy and shiny. This activity will get rid of all the split ends and let the hair grow naturally. The first cut may mean you have to have your hair cut a bit shorter than usual because the stylist will have to cut the hair above the damaged area.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money in hair treatments. Using a combination of olive oil and a beaten egg is a very simple treatment for your hair. Massage the olive oil into your hair and then add the beaten egg mixture. Allow the mixture to sit on your hair for about 10 minutes and then shampoo as normal. Mayonnaise makes a great conditioner. Massage it into your hair, let it sit for about a half hour and then wash it out.

If your hair has been damaged because you overused chemical treatments, hemp shampoo is a wonderful treatment for the damage. The oils of the hemp plant contain the fatty acids that the skin and scalp need. It is an excellent moisturizer because it helps to restore the damaged cells. Cranberry oil is rich in antioxidants and is not only great for your hair, but is also a good treatment for dandruff, eczema and psoriasis.
